The announcement of her planned departure last week came with blowback from parents and teachers who wanted Dr. Stone to stay, and felt she was pushed to resign.

On Monday, Dec. 13, Richardson ISD Superintendent Jeannie Stone is expected to resign as superintendent. Stone stood up, and stood with, students of color in 2020 who said they were treated unfairly in her district.

Just hours after the announcement of the deaths of a student and a teacher, the Richardson ISD school board held its regularly scheduled meeting, during which discussion focused largely on the district’s mask policy and COVID-19 cases.

A Richardson ISD junior and a teacher at the district’s learning center campus died last week of “complications from COVID-19,” the superintendent says.
