A Dallas restaurateur’s plan to support humanitarian efforts in Ukraine has raised more than $250,000 to help provide hot meals to Ukrainians fleeing or defending against the Russian invasion.

Dallas restaurants added $1 to every customer’s bill to raise money for humanitarian efforts in Ukraine. Over six weeks more than $250,000 has been raised for the nonprofit World Central Kitchen founded by celebrity chef José Andrés.

A Dallas restaurateur has a simple way to help the people of Ukraine. Instead of asking for donations at the end of a meal, they’re charging just $1 to every tab, regardless of party size.
