If DART riders see an increase in DART police or bomb sniffing dogs, it's not because the FBI busted a suspected terror plot in Dallas on Thursday. It's because of the Texas State Fair.

"After what happened in Denver and New York, then the situation locally, we were already being extra vigilant and we already planned to be extra visible." said Morgan Lyons, DART's spokesman.

Lyons said DART's new green line, which stops at the Texas State Fair, will see an increase in patrols. Lyons also said three bomb sniffing dogs will be used through out the transit system. One K-9 unit was spotted at DART's Fair Park stop.

Riders told NBCDFW.COM, they feel safe.

"I saw, just on the short ride we had, there was probably about four cops that we saw, so we felt really safe on the green line today." said Rhonda McDonald, who hopped on DART at Mockingbird Station.

Lyons said DART police also work with Dallas Police and the FBI to coordinate safety.

"DART police are part of the FBI joint terrorism task force so we're able to get that front line intelligence." Lyons added.
