Jane McGarry anchors NBC 5 News at 5 p.m. and Nonstop Nightly at 6:30 p.m. on 5-2 Monday through Friday.

She joined NBC 5 in 1982 and has held various anchor positions since then. Before coming to NBC 5, McGarry was an anchor/reporter in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She also served as the Illinois News Bureau Chief at WPSD-TV in Paducah, Kentucky, and was a Reporter/Producer and Host of a Magazine show on WRAJ Radio in Anna, Illinois.

McGarry graduated from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science.  Since she began her career in broadcasting, McGarry has won several awards including four-time winner of the “Personality of the Year” award by the American Women in Radio and Television.  Jane is also the 2006 recipient of the AWRT national “Gracie” award, recognizing the best local news anchor in the country.

McGarry has conducted in-depth interviews with former President George W. Bush, First Lady Laura Bush, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, music legend Willie Nelson, television personality Ellen DeGeneres, Cowboys legend Roger Staubach and University of Texas Rose Bowl quarterback Vince Young.

In her free time, she enjoys tennis, golf, horseback riding, skiing, cooking, flowers, and reading.
