HIGHLAND PARK BANK ROBBERY
Friday night, Highland Park DPS was called by an employee inside a Washington Mutual Bank in Highland Park advising that they had been robbed. The robber huddled three employees and a bank customer in one corner, then climbed onto the tellers counter and took currency from several drawers. He stuffed the loot in a plastic sack and ran off. ROBBERY INVESTIGATION
A man says he was sleeping in his van when several men knocked on the van door and told him to give them his money. He says they shoved him in the back of the van and roughed him up, then took his money and put him out of the van. He says he walked up to a house and asked the residents to call police because he had been robbed. The supervisor says the man was not serious hurt, mostly bruised from getting smacked in the face. The van was eventually recovered dumped off near the 2500 block of South Hampton Rd. with no sign of the suspects. Police are talking to the victim and getting descriptions of the attackers.
IRVING THREE ALARM FIRE
A three alarm fire at the Eagle Crest II Apartments in Irving has displaced several families. Irving firefighters responded to the blaze around 10:30 Friday night. Ten units were damaged by a combination of fire, smoke and water damage. No injuries were reported from the incident, and the cause is still under investigation. (NBC DFW)
TWO MEN SHOT ON I-35
Two men were shot while driving on Stemmons Freeway just before 3 AM this morning. The pair were travelling southbound on Stemmons Freeway between Walnut Hill Lane and Royal Lane when another car pulled alongside them and opened fire. (NBC DFW)
NORTH TOLLWAY FALLING ROCKS
A Cedar Hill driver said she was targeted by rock-wielding vandals on the Dallas North Tollway on Thursday. Dallas police said it's fairly common, and teenagers are typically the culprits. Investigators are checking surveillance cameras on the toll road to see if the incident was caught on camera. Police said people who throw rocks at moving cars can be charged will a felony. (NBC DFW)
