One person was killed and six others were injured Friday afternoon in a head-on collision in Fort Worth.

The crash between two pickup trucks took place at Mitchell Boulevard and Glen Garden Drive at about 4 p.m.

It occurred in a residential neighborhood at an intersection on the southwest side of Fort Worth's Masonic Home across the street from the Glen Garden Golf and Country Club.

Five people were transported to John Peter Smith Hospital after the crash.

Witnesses told Fort Worth police a gray pickup was speeding and weaving in and out of traffic before colliding head-on with a maroon truck.

A female victim in the gray pickup died. Police said the male driver and a female passenger are in very critical condition.

Police said three high school students were in the gray pickup. Witnesses said they all attended Trimble Tech High School.

Police said two women and two girls from the maroon truck all have nonlife-threatening injuries.

One witness told NBC 5 the gray truck was chasing another vehicle. Another witness said the truck was racing the other vehicle. Police said if there was another vehicle involved, the driver did not stop, but officers are still investigating.

The crash scene was near State Highway 287 and Wichita Street but did not affect traffic.

NBC 5's Scott Gordon contributed to this report.
