After two robberies where a man pulled a knife and robbed homeowners in their driveway or garage, police are concerned there may be more driveway robberies.
Police in Dallas and Highland Park are worried they could start seeing a rash of driveway robberies.
Two families have been robbed while pulling into their driveways in the past two weeks.
In the first instance, a couple that lives in the 3600 block of Stratford Avenue was robbed at knifepoint after getting out of their car in their driveway.
On Thursday, a woman who lives in the 7500 block of Caruth Boulevard was robbed inside her garage.
According to a police report, she told investigators a man with a mask pointed a knife at her after she pulled into the garage and opened the door. He then put his fingers to his lips and snatched her purse.
Neighbors said they have called police in the past few months after seeing a strange man walking down driveways.
"We don't go out at night," Mollie Castro said. "After five o'clock, we're home, and that's it. We're afraid to go out, that's why."
Investigators said they do not think the robberies are related, meaning they believe more than one person is committing the crimes.
Police say the best thing people can do is look around their driveway for objects where someone could hide behind. If something looks out of place or doesn't feel right, call a family member or police.
