Feds Say 27 Indicted in Texas Marijuana Raids

AP

Prosecutors in Houston say more than two dozen people have been indicted in the seizure of nearly 14,000 marijuana plants.

The drug raids were carried out Aug. 21 at about 60 sites in Harris, Fort Bend and Montgomery counties. U.S. Attorney Kennedy Magidson says 27 suspects were indicted Wednesday in cases involving hydroponic marijuana growing sites.

The charges include conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute a controlled substance and conspiracy to maintain a place for manufacturing, distributing and using controlled substances.

Magidson says all but two suspects have been arrested. The defendants are from Houston, Conroe, Spring, Richmond and Tomball.
