The DART board — and has there ever been a more aptly named group? — convenes today and again later this month, and one agenda item calls for a resolution to discuss expansion of light rail service eastward.
Not just a suburban extension from the Garland station, mind you, but all the way out, possibly to Shreveport, La., by way of a proposed agreement with the North East Texas Regional Mobility Authority.
Of course, this would all play out over a 15-20 year plan and involve multiple agencies, so don’t book those gambling reservations in Bossier City just yet.
Still, let’s hope that before service to northwestern Louisiana becomes a reality, the DART board [snicker] finds a way to run rail service out to Cowboys Stadium, the big airport, and — and really, this should have been one of the first stops opened — Love Field.
How about it, DART? Show us a little local love.
