Investigators told NBC 5 that two clerks from the store were walking outside when as many as four people tried to rob them.

During a scuffle that followed, someone shot store clerk Ahferom Berhane, 26, of Richardson, who was later pronounced dead at Dallas Methodist Hospital, police said.

Detectives did recover a handgun at the scene of the shooting, but would not confirm if it was the one they believed was used in the crime.

The other clerk involved in the incident was not seriously hurt, according to police.

Officers did not provide a description of any of the suspects involved in the shooting.
