Progressive Jessica Cisneros is requesting a recount in her tight runoff election against nine-term Democratic U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar that remained too close to call nearly two weeks later.

One of the last remaining anti-abortion Democrats in Congress was facing his toughest primary challenge yet in Tuesday’s runoff.

The runoff for the March 1 primary is May 24, when voters will decide the party nominations for several state and local races coming up on Nov. 8.

Early voting for the May 24 primary runoff begins Monday and runs through the end of the week.

Early voting starts for the May 7 election, while ballots will vary from city to city, all Texans are asked to weigh in on two proposed amendments to the state constitution.
