Delta Lambda Phi is the first gay fraternity at The University of Texas in Austin.

The University of Texas now has its first and only gay fraternity.

Delta Lambda Phi, a nationally recognized gay fraternity, was inducted at UT earlier this year.

Fraternity president Russell van Kraayenburg brought up the idea to open a gay fraternity to the UT Greek community six months ago.

He says everyone has been very supportive on campus.

Members complained that a lot of fraternities exclude gays at UT.

The new gay fraternity has seven members.

  • Steve Tuesday, Nov 11 at 11:40 PM FLAG COMMENT Thanks U.T. for realizing the importance of this organization. It proves Texas is just as open-minded as the other states in this great country. If you have a problem with it, don't worry it doesn't affect you. God loves everyone no matter who you are. Think of that when you preacher preaches hate this Sunday at your place of worship. HOW UN-JESUS LIKE OF THEM.
