Patchwork Catching Platoon Producing

The Texas Rangers' catching situation is a complete mess right now.

Carlos Corporan is on a rehab assignment, and starting catcher Robinson Chirinos was placed on the disabled list last week with a left shoulder injury.

Tomas Telis, the backup in the wake of Corporan's injury, was traded to Miami for new relief pitcher Sam Dyson.

To shore up the position, the Rangers claimed Bobby Wilson off waivers from Tampa Bay and called Chris Gimenez up from Round Rock, and so far, so good.

In the five games since Chirinos went down, the duo has combined to hit .412 (7-for-17) with a run each, a double each and four RBIs (three from Wilson).

Don't expect the production to continue, but for now, enjoy it.
