Fort Worth Valero Sells Winning Lotto Ticket

Customers at a southwest Fort Worth Valero store are anxiously waiting to find out who won a $16 million lottery drawing Wednesday night.

Wednesday's winning Texas Lotto ticket matched all six numbers (8-14-27-30-47-51) -- winning the holder $16 million.

The winning ticket was a one dollar Lotto Texas ticket, sold at the Valero store on Bryant Irvin Road.

The Valero store owner says business has been picking up with new customers hoping that lightning strikes twice.

“I would have quit my job today if I would have won,” said customer Phil Robinson. “And my girlfriend is very mad at me that I didn’t buy a ticket last night.”

The store’s owner said she’s enjoying the extra attention---and the extra sales—but said she’s truly happy for the winning customer.

“Up the street from here is a poorer neighborhood, and I just hope someone who needs it and deserves it won it,” said Valero Regional Manager Vicki Garcia. “I’m just excited for that person, for someone deserving to win the money.”

Garcia said she doesn’t yet know how much the Valero store stands to gain from selling the 16 million dollar winning ticket. She said she’s now cheering on new customers, hoping that they win big too.

The winning ticket must be claimed at the State Lottery headquarters in Austin because it’s worth more than one million dollars. No one has come forward yet.
