Richardson firefighters responded to a smoke investigation call at a suite in the 500 block of East Arapaho Road at 6:07 p.m. and found a deceased man inside.
The man was later identified as 60-year-old Michael Castagne, according to authorities.
City officials told NBC 5 the suite is occupied by The Brotherhood, LLC.
Detectives interviewed a man who arrived at the suite Wednesday morning and said he was responding to a Craigslist ad seeking "talent" for acting jobs. His tip led police to Daeveion Demonte Mangum, 20, police said.
A police affidavit stated Castagne's vehicle was found in the same apartment complex where Mangum lived. A search warrant led police to recover cameras and a laptop, all of which went missing from the business suite, police said.
Mangum was arrested on outstanding traffic warrants and taken to Richardson City Jail. He later confessed to arguing with Castagne before killing him, according to police.
