6/18: Cougars, Clubs and Capsized Songs

Nothing quite says musicals like cougars and swing dancing

RELEASE THE KRACKHEADS!: For those who had the unfortunate experience of going to check out the remake of Clash of the Titans...which by the way was a travesty of epic proportions, as the original was next in line to The Empire Strikes Back as one of the most badass movies of a late 70's childhood...you can rectify that through the stage as Level Ground Arts presents Poseidon! An Upside Down Musical at the Dallas Hub Theatre. The regional premiere of the musical is a spoof of the 1972 disaster classic The Poseidon Adventure. The show, in which passengers of a capsized cruise ship try to find their way out of the vessel before it completely sinks, was the hit of the 2003 New York International Fringe Festival.

LIBERATING THE COUGAR: I think it's time for us to revise the definition of the term cougar. Have you seen the new Sex in the City? It's getting out of hand. To my chagrin I haven't, but I was told by a reliable source that if your belly button looks old, your disqualified from being one. With that said, we can move on to what really matters. The cougars that are still qualified to be cougars. Yes, young men of Dallas, they are still out there, and they want you to buy them a cosmo. Thankfully for you young squire, the Library Bar will let you buy these not so illusive creatures a lovely pink vodka drink for only 7 bucks tonight as they host Cougar Cosmo Fridays. So get out there and get into the wild.

SWING TIME AFTER TEE TIME: Nothing says jazz and blues music quite like country clubs and tight security. That's why if you want to go old school Bobby Darin-style then you'll be sure to show up to the Up To Par Jazz and Blues Concert hosted by Cedar Crest Golf Course and Banquet Facility. The event promises to be an evening of live jazz and blues, with a free buffet, cash bar, swing dancing and more each Friday. Home Grown Talent with performances by Mahogany and The Jam Box Band. Featuring the music of Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Louis Jordan, Glen Miller & Benny Goodman.
