NBC 5 sports director Newy Scruggs caught up with the head football coaches of Grambling State and Prairie View A&M ahead of Saturday’s State Fair Classic in the Cotton Bowl.

While the Cotton Bowl pumps money into the local economy as football fans come to town for the Cotton Bowl Classic, the charity attached to the annual college football game raises around $500,000 for education and teachers.

The couple who won a Big Tex Choice award for the best sweet on their first try for the first time in State Fair of Texas history said they are prepared for strong demand as the fair opened Friday.

Four shirts were laid out on the field at the Cotton Bowl in anticipation of a big announcement on Friday morning. The shirts represented those worn by Big Tex during the last four years of the State Fair of Texas.
