The Texas Rangers are leaving The Fan for ESPN.
The team announced Tuesday that they entered into a multi-year deal with ESPN 103.3-FM and ESPN Desportes 1540-AM for the exclusive English and Spanish radio play-by-play rights beginning in 2011.
The voice of the Rangers, Eric Nadel, isn't going anywhere either. Nadel will begin his 33rd season of broadcasting Texas Rangers baseball this spring. Dave Barnett is back also. On the Spanish side, Eleno Ornelas will enter his 12th season calling the games.
"We are very pleased to enter into this long term radio agreement with ESPN and ESPN Deportes," commented Rangers Managing Partner and CEO Chuck Greenberg. "Our partnership with ESPN will be an important element as we expand the Rangers brand locally, regionally, and nationally. We look forward to a long and productive relationship."
The deal includes most regular season games and any post-season games. Selected spring games will also be broadcast.
When there is a programming conflict, you will find the English broadcast on either 660-AM, or FM stations 92.9, 95.5 or 99.9.
In addition, the Rangers ESPN Radio Network will provide Rangers baseball coverage in English and Spanish to a network of stations throughout Texas and the Southwest.
