Holiday Travel at DFW Airport Smooth, Despite Construction

It will be the busiest holiday travel season Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport has ever had, with 3.2 million passengers expected between now and January 4.

People traveling through can expect to see new gates and new concessions, even comfier check points at several terminals. Construction is underway at terminals A, B and E right now. That work is expected to be done at the end of next year/early 2016.

Among the new concessions, an NBC 5 store!

DFW Airport is hoping to make it a smooth experience for travelers, for folks like Robin Inch who flew in to DFW for the first time. It’s there where she met her first grandson.

β€œI came from Seattle today, just to meet him for the first time and he's beautiful,” she said.

Donna Green is also a first time passenger. She flew in a week early to spend time with her sister.

β€œWe're gonna’ have a big party, I can't wait, haven't seen her in years!” said Green.

She’s on dialysis and was wearing a facemask on the plane.

β€œMy immune system is really low, and didn't want to get on that plane exposed,” said Green.

To make the travel experience easier, DFW Airport spokesperson David Magana is advising folks to get here with extra time to spare.

Parking information is included on the DFW app.

β€œIf you want to park, inside the app we'll give you real time information as to how full the parking garages are,” explained Magana.

Magana also advises folks traveling with gifts, not to wrap them. If they need to be further inspected, they will have to be unwrapped.
