Dallas Diamond Store to Host $100 Million Sales Event

The owner of one of Dallas' best-known jewelry stores hopes one number will stand out: $100,000,000.

Beginning Dec. 1, The Diamond Doctor will host "The $100,000,000 Diamond Event" at its Preston Road store, in what the owner describes as a "once-in-a-lifetime" opportunity to purchase some of the rarest diamonds on Earth.

The diamonds on sale include a 39.5 carat "fancy intense, canary yellow" diamond ring, with an asking price of $2 million.

"You probably have more chance of being struck by lightning than ever seeing a diamond like that. Never mind having the opportunity to look at one and purchase it," said David Blank, proprietor of The Diamond Doctor. "To me, it's like I'm just looking at a Picasso every time I look at one of these gems. They're absolutely as rare as that."

The precious gems first started arriving at the Dallas store last week, and more deliveries are expected in the days leading up to the event, Blank said.

Security, already tight at the store, has been increased to include uniformed and undercover police officers inside and in the area outside surrounding The Diamond Doctor, according to Blank.

"You know if you were the world's most famous food connoisseur you would look at these particular gems here and you would just be salivating," Blank said. "These gems are just delicious."

The $100,000,000 Diamond Event runs Dec. 1-6.
