Police are investigating whether Dallas City Council member Kevin Felder was involved in a crash with a scooter late Wednesday morning, deputy chief Thomas Castro says.
Police said investigators are looking into Felder failed to stop and render aid in an incident in the 2500 block of Malcolm X Boulevard after police received a 911 call around 11:30 a.m.
The person on the scooter was not seriously injured, police said.
Police towed Felder's car around 6 p.m. outside of a South Dallas recreation center in the 6800 block of Mountain Creek Parkway, where the city council met Wednesday, NBC 5's Allie Spillyards reported.
NBC 5 reporter Ken Kalthoff spoke face-to-face with Felder at Wednesday's city council meeting. Kalthoff said Felder waved him off and declined to talk about the accident investigation.
According to police, Felder has not yet been questioned or taken into custody.

"We don't want to rush to any judgment. We'll conduct this investigation as we normally do. We won't take any shortcuts, and we'll do everything we normally do. And if it turns out we need to effect an arrest, we are willing to do so," Castro said..
If Felder is found guilty of failing to stop and render aid, police said the incident could result in a felony charge. So far, no other details of the crash have been released.
