DALLAS POLICE INVESTIGATE EARLY MORNING DISTURBANCES
Police are searching for a person who attacked multiple homes in North Dallas on Friday. At around 2:30 a.m., someone began knocking on the front and back doors of homes in the 3900 and 4000 blocks of Alta Vista and Courtshire, according to Dallas police Sgt. Warren Mitchell. The last call to police came in at 3:30 a.m. Police dispatched several units to the scene along with the K-9 unit to search for the person. About 10 homes were disturbed in all. No homeowners were injured and nothing was stolen.
ARLINGTON TEEN HIT BY CAR DIES
The 15-year-old Arlington pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle on Interstate 20 and Green Oaks Thursday, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiners Office. Cody Rocamontes died at John Peter Smith Hospital at 12:40 a.m. Friday morning after being struck earlier in the afternoon. The case is still under investigation.
JUVENILE GIRL JAILED FOR 13 DAYS
A 13-year-old girl was arrested and held in the Dallas County Jail for almost two weeks before authorities realized she was underage. Dallas police have launched an internal investigation to review the incident. Read more here.
MAN ARRESTED AND CHARGED IN RECENT APARTMENT COMPLEX FIRES
The man accused of setting three fires at the Asante Apartments at 202 South Jim Miller Road was caught on surveillance camera by Dallas Fire Rescue attempting to set a fourth fire at the apartment complex. Arson investigators Capt. Sam Stephenson and Lt. Derrick Cherry detained 30-year-old James Earl Castle at the scene. Castle was taken in for questioning where he gave a full confession for all four fires, according to police spokesperson Jason Evans. He is being charged with two counts of 2nd degree felony arson and one charge of attempted arson.
HALTOM CITY POLICE SAY COMMON SENSE CAN STOP BURGLARIES
Haltom City police are asking homeowners to use common sense to help curb the large number of home burglaries that have hit the area in the last month. The thieves are interested in flat screen TV's and other electronics and a simple open garage is enough to tempt thieves, police say. Police also said to shut blinds and curtains to keep crooks from casing a home.
POLICE SOLICIT PUBLIC'S HELP IN FINDING PURSE SNATCHERS
Police are asking for the public's help with identifying two young men accused of stealing a woman's wallet in the parking lot of the Tom Thumb grocery store at 2611 W. Park Row Drive. The young men are both described as black, in their late teens, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing between 140 and 150 pounds. The first one was wearing a black shirt, black jeans, and a black durag. The second one was wearing a white shirt and blue shorts. Anyone with information on this offense is asked to call Arlington Det. Caleb Blank at 817-459-5651 or Crime Stoppers at 817-469-TIPS. All tipsters remain anonymous and are eligible for a reward up to $1,000

PLANO'S BOMB SQUAD SEES MORE BOMB SCARES IN RECENT WEEKS
The Plano Police Department bomb squad has been responding to a large number of bomb scares in the past few weeks, the Dallas Morning News reports. On Wednesday, the bomb squad deployed one of their two robots to examine a suitcase found near the playground at Plano Douglass Community Center. None of the recent bomb scares have resulted in actual bombs, but Plano authorities encourage citizens to continue reporting suspicious behavior.
