A new play about the memorable former Texas Gov. Ann Richards is opening at the Kennedy Center in Washington.
"Ann" is written and performed by actress Holland Taylor who spent three years developing the project to create a portrait of Richards.
Taylor used Richards' personal and public papers at the University of Texas and interviewed those who knew the former governor to develop her character for the stage.
The play runs through Jan. 15 at the Kennedy Center's Eisenhower Theater.
