Video Shows Smash-and-Grab Theft at Mister Guns in Plano

Investigators released surveillance video Thursday of a smash-and-grab burglary at a Plano gun store.

Plano police said a pickup truck slammed through the front of Mister Guns on W. 15th Street at about 3:45 a.m. Wednesday.

In the video, four people are seen jumping out of the truck, then smashing cases and grabbing weapons.

A total of 93 firearms were stolen, according to police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

The truck used in the break-in was found just blocks away, abandoned by the thieves. Investigators said the truck had been stolen early that same morning from a nearby apartment complex.

Ro Carter, the owner of Mister Guns, told NBCDFW Thursday he was the first to see the surveillance video.

"It's awful. That's the only thing I can say. It's awful," Carter said.

In his two prior years in business at his store's current location, Carter had never before had a single gun stolen. Within a matter of minutes Wednesday, 93 were stolen.

"If even one goes missing at all it has to be reported to ATF and everything is tracked," Carter said.

A representative for the ATF told reporters Thursday that it was too soon to characterize the criminals seen in the security video.

But Russ Morrison, spokesperson for the ATF in Dallas, described the crime as brazened.

"When you put this number of guns on the street it's concerning to all law enforcement," Morrison said. "That's why we've got a full team on this. And we're working it as hard as we can."

Officials are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. Contact the North Texas Crime Stoppers at 1-877-373-8477.
