Two Fugitives Caught in Denton

Convicted murderer, another jail inmate recaptured in Denton

A convicted murderer and another man who escaped from a jail in Tennessee were apprehended by U.S. marshals in Denton.

Jessie Lobbins and Joshua Caldwell were arrested Friday night at a house in Denton. Police said they believe both men escaped from the county jail in Springfield, Tenn., early Wednesday morning.

They said the men arrived in the Denton area on Thursday.

Lobbins was convicted in federal court in Nashville in August of murder, carrying a firearm in relation to a crime of violence, and tampering with a witness, victim, or informant.

He faced a life sentence in prison.

Caldwell was in federal pre-trial detention on charges of conspiracy to distribute marijuana and methamphetamine.

Police said Lobbins immediately surrendered, and Caldwell was found hiding.

Both men were arrested on federal charges of escape. They will be jailed in Denton until they are returned to Tennessee.
