3,000 Jobs Available at ‘You're Hired Job Fest' in Dallas Tuesday

Job seekers flocked to Dallas on Tuesday for the "You're Hired Job Fest," a collaboration between Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins and Workforce Solutions Greater Dallas. It's the third annual event.

"We've got 1,700 jobs in logistics. We also have tons of law enforcement jobs," Jenkins said. "We have 1,300 first-time jobs for young people who are getting their start."

Representatives from 28 employers looked to fill more than 3,000 positions. The jobs were in logistics, law enforcement, transportation and government. There were also 500 permanent part-time positions with UPS and 100 open positions with the Dallas County Sheriff's Department.

Interviews were conducted on the spot, with some employers even offering tuition reimbursement. There's an immediate need for employees due to the upcoming holiday season.

"I feel that there are so many opportunities in Dallas that it's inevitable for me to find a job," Hillary Lopez said. She was at the fair looking for jobs in corporate finance.

According to the Bureau of Labor statistics, Dallas ranks second in job growth among the 12 largest metropolitan areas in the country.

"Have you ever been to a job fair that feels like a blind date -- you get all dressed up, only to feel awkward and rejected? Well, this is a job hook-up! These employers are highly motivated and they have great jobs available in logistics. So, if you need a job, or know someone who does, next Tuesday, come see Clay," Jenkins said. "These aren't just great entry level jobs, they are an opportunity to advance and grow your career with some strong companies."

"So I actually have three interviews set up this week from this event," Wendy Marshall said. She's looking for a job in customer service. "So I'm really excited!"
