Lemonade Stand Funds Girl's Horse Therapy Tuition

Donations will help pay for medical expenses not covered by insurance

Life gave Zoe Grall of Collin County a bunch of lemons.

She was "born with Spina Bifida and has faced many physical challenges," writes her mom in a post on Facebook. "She spends lots of her time in doctor's offices, specialized feeding therapy, and physical and occupational therapy gyms."

But Zoe, who is just six, has taken all those lemons and turned them into lemonadeโ€” a lemonade stand to be exact.

Saturday, for the third year in a row, Zoe will serve lemonade and hot dogs to anyone who stops by. Donations she gets will help pay for medical expenses not covered by insurance.

Zoe's aunt Missy Whisler says the lemonade stand is all Zoe's idea. Donations in her first year added up to $500. Last year, the generosity brought $3,000.

Whisler says "it's more than a glass of lemonade."  The money Zoe raises will help fund tuition for horse therapy.

"Her favorite therapy she looks forward to every week is the time she spends on her precious therapy horse, 'Crunchie,'" writes Brooke Grall.

Whisler admires her niece's determination. "She can't and never will walk, but it doesn't keep her from doing whatever she wants. Despite her inability to walk, her strong presence commands respect wherever she is."

Zoe will be ready with lemonade and hot dogs on Saturday, July 30, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. at 117 Green Acres Drive in Murphy.
