Cedar Hill Teacher's Aide Accused of Improper Relationship With 16-Year-Old

A teacher's aide at a Cedar Hill charter school is accused of having an improper relationship with a student for more than a year.

Cody Hunter McMillen, 23, a teacher's aide at Village Tech, was arrested Thursday at his home in Duncanville after Cedar Hill police said he sent sexually explicit text messages to a 16-year-old student.

Cedar Hill police were notified of the relationship Oct. 14. On Monday, detectives met with officials at the private charter school and also interviewed McMillen, who they said admitted to the relationship.

From the interview, detectives said they learned "initial contact with the student occurred via sexually explicit text messages beginning in March 2016 and continued until June 2017."

Police do not believe there was ever any physical contact between the teacher and student.

Village Tech Schools released the following statement Thursday.

"Late Saturday October 14, we received a report from a parent about alleged wrongdoing by an individual high school classroom aide. We immediately turned the information over to Child Protective Services and the Cedar Hill Police. This individual is no longer an employee. Our first priority is the safety and well-being of our students.

McMillen was charged by the Dallas County District Attorney's Office with Improper Relationship with a Student, a second-degree felony.

Following his arrest, McMillen was booked into the DeSoto City Jail and is being held on $75,000 bond.

It is not known if McMillen has obtained an attorney.
