You can still give the gift of green by recycling your Christmas tree.

Throughout the metroplex, an end to the holiday season is marked with recycling.

In an effort to remain green, many cities are calling on residents to recycle their Christmas trees. It is important to note that all decorations must be removed from the raw Christmas trees before recycling (do not place the tree in a plastic bag).

Here is a list of a few cities in the metroplex with tree recycling programs and the necessary requirements. If you have any questions, check with your local city government:

    Dallas

Dallas' Sanitation Services Department is partnering with Home Depot to make the job a little easier. Residents have until Jan. 2, 2012 to return Christmas trees to one of 7 Dallas Home Depot Stores listed below:

    11255 Garland Road - Dallas, Texas 75218
    6000 Skillman - Dallas, Texas 75231
    11468 Grissom Lane - Dallas, Texas 75229
2610 Fort Worth Avenue - Dallas, Texas 75211
    6110 Lemmon Avenue - Dallas, Texas 75209
    2901 W. Wheatland Road - Dallas, Texas 75237
11682 Forest Central Drive - Dallas, Texas 75243

Residents can also leave the trees curbside along with their brush to be picked up by the City's curbside brush collection.

    Fort Worth

To use a drop-off station in Fort Worth, residents must show a recent Fort Worth water bill and current ID with a Fort Worth address. Renters with a Fort Worth address must show a current Fort Worth water bill to use the drop-off station. Apartment renters may use the stations for recyclables only. There are three drop-off stations:

    Brennan
    2400 Brennan Ave.

    Saturday: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
    Sunday: Closed

    Arlington

In Arlington, residents have until Jan. 9, 2012 to drop-off their Christmas trees at two main drop off centers.
