Nagging worries about banks have again weighed on the stock market.

Stocks are ending mixed following lackluster quarterly reports from Morgan Stanley and credit card issuer Capital One Financial Corp.

Stocks have traded in tandem with bank stocks all week amid worries about rising levels of bad debt.

The Dow is down 83 points, or 1 percent, at 7,887. The Standard & Poor's 500 index is down 6, or 0.8 percent, at 844. The Nasdaq composite index is up 2, or 0.1 percent, at 1,646.

About eight stocks rose for every seven that fell on the New York Stock Exchange, where volume came to 1.8 billion shares.
