The ballots are out to MLB coaches and managers for the Louisville Slugger Silver Slugger awards, and not surprisingly, the ballots aren't stacked with Texas Rangers.
On the brink of a 100-loss season, the Rangers were able to land just one player on the ballot, and you can have one guess to quickly figure out who it is but none other than the great Adrian Beltre.
Each team receives four votes in the balloting, and may not vote for their own players.
Obviously, the Rangers aren't too deserving of any postseason awards, but Beltre has been a constant source of production for the otherwise lackluster Rangers offense, as well as being a great leader in the clubhouse in a situation where things could've easily gone very sour.
The veteran third baseman is batting .323 with 17 home runs and 69 RBIs and is a sure thing to have his worst offensive output as a Ranger despite having his highest average if he can stay above .321, which he finished with in 2012.
Below are some players who are already part of the conversation as 2014 Silver Slugger Award contenders. The "*" denotes a past winner of the award.
