Doug Martin was the second running back taken in the NFL Draft this past spring, but he was taken well after Alabama star Trent Richardson. On Sunday, Martin, a rookie out of Boise State, put up what ranks as the No. 4 fantasy performance in the history of this crazy game.
The Tampa Bay Bucs rookie runner had 25 carries for 251 yards and four touchdowns — all of which were long scoring runs. It was something special, for sure, and he's without a doubt the star of Week 9 as it was darn near impossible to lose this past week if you had him in your starting lineup, and it's hard to imagine any scenario where he would've been benched by anyone as he's been a solid back all season.
The goat for the week? Well, it's the guy who was our hero in Week 8 — DFW's own Matthew Stafford, the quarterback for the Detroit Lions.
Stafford, coming off his first Stafford-like week of the season, reverted to the running game in Week 9 as Mikel Leshoure rushed for three scores while Stafford had a pedestrian 285 yards, no touchdowns and no picks (hooray?).
Better luck next week if you're relying on Stafford.
