In an appearance in Toronto, aimed at promoting the 2010 NFL season, the former running back and franchise legend Dorsett spoke out against the proliferation of the running back-by-committee approach in the NFL, and said that Felix Jones should get the lion’s share of the carries for Dallas.
“If I was the coach, I'd say, 'Felix, this is your job to lose,''' Dorsett said, per the Dallas Morning News. “The way Marion Barber runs, it's not healthy for himself . . . and conducive for a long career and I think over the years it has taken its toll already.
“Tashard Choice, I like his style.”
This is not a new sentiment for Dorsett, who said that any of the Cowboys’ three running backs are capable of starting. The Hall of Famer reportedly warned Barber of the deleterious effects of his running style near the beginning of his tenure as starter.
“I like him a whole lot,” Dorsett said. “My only concern is that this is a very physical league. ...When you take a lot of hits over a period of time, it takes its toll on you. I just hope he becomes a little wiser and smarter about some of the hits he takes."
