Super New Restaurant: Preston's

There’s a new restaurant in town named Preston’s. The setting is casual yet elegant and the cuisine prepared by Chef/co-owner Jon Schwarzenberger is Contemporary American.

Schwarzenberger has worked with Master Chef Guy Vander-Perre in Brussels, Belgium and at the award-winning Crescent Club in Dallas.

He also opened Social Restaurant at Hotel Lumen under Kimpton Hotel’s management. But those days are behind him as he happily takes charge in of his new kitchen.

Preston’s is very much a chef driven restaurant. At a glance the menu is packed with hearty options, some marked by a curious inverted triangle with a ‘S’ inside it.

An entrée with this icon next to it means “Super Food” ingredients were used to make it. Super foods are ingredients rich in antioxidants, fiber and/or vitamins and are especially health promoting and disease preventing.

So expect to see a lot of avocados, citrus, spinach, whole grains, salmon, sweet potatoes, garlic, onions, tomatoes, berries and nuts.

“These super foods are super high in antioxidants and phyto-nutrients and basically things that are really good for you,” said Schwarzenberger.

But Schwarzenberger really wants people to know that just because his food is healthy, doesn’t mean it lacks taste.

“I use butter and rich sauces. We aren’t afraid of big flavors but we still want to achieve those great flavors by using the very best ingredients,” said Schwarzenberger.

We recommend trying the sweet jalapeno glazed black cod with quinoa, sweet corn and chili pilaf or the Rahr "ugly pug" beer braised beef short ribs. Finish off with a tart panacotta for dessert and a cocktail kept cold by the bar's chill strip.

Enjoy!
