A select subcommittee of the Texas Senate heard details on Tuesday morning of the police response to the pro-Palestinian protestors across several state campuses.

For the first time, we are receiving answers to questions about the police response to pro-Palestinian protests on Texas college campuses. Protesters were arrested by troopers at UT-Dallas and UT-Austin in late April, while no arrests were made at other universities across the state. NBC 5’s Phil Prazen has learned the reasons behind this discrepancy.

A graduate student at UNT Dallas is earning a master’s degree in criminology, a field that is close to home. NBC 5’s Noelle Walker reported on this story.

On the UT Dallas campus Friday, students said they were holding their ground, continuing a call for the university to divest financial interests in companies providing weapons for Israel amid the war in Gaza.

A massive movement among college students holding generally pro-Palestinian rallies nationwide reached the University of Texas at Dallas on Wednesday.

Protests over the Israel-Hamas war at the UT Dallas campus have lasted for over 12 hours. Law enforcement is present, and several students have been arrested as officers dismantled an encampment. NBC 5 reporters Maria Guerrero and Vince Sims are on site to report on the situation.

NBC 5’s Larry Collins tells us about the protests that have taken place across the country in response to the conflict between Israel and Palestine. As of noon on Wednesday, the UTD protest remained peaceful. 

As many cram for finals, more than 100 University of Texas at Dallas students instead spent the day lining the front hall of the university’s administration building, hoping to make their voices heard.
