Stars Captain Jamie Benn in Running for EA Sports NHL '17 Cover

It's been a decade since a member of the Dallas Stars graced a video game cover

It’s already been quite a week for Dallas Stars captain Jamie Benn.

First, on Sunday, Benn recorded three points in the series-clinching Game 6 victory over the Wild in Minnesota, and now we learn he’s in the running for the cover of EA Sports’ NHL ’17.

Benn is one of eight players, each representing a team in the World Cup of Hockey, up for the honor. Obviously, Benn represents Team Canada.

He’s up against Joe Pavelski of the United States, Jakub Voracek of the Czech Republic, Aleksander Barkov of Finland, Victor Hedman of Sweden, Anze Kopitar of Team Europe, Connor McDavid of Team North America and Vladimir Tarasenko of Russia—who is also a member of the St Louis Blues, the Stars’ opponent in the next round of the playoffs.

You can vote for the Stars’ captain at the EA website here, or get on Twitter and use the hashtag #NHL17Benn.

If he wins, it will mark the first time a Dallas Star has graced a video game cover since Marty Turco was the face of NHL 2K6.
