Sean Lee Named NFC Defensive Player of the Week

Lee had 14 tackles and an interception in the victory over the Eagles

In just his second game back after missing all of 2014 with a torn ACL, and the end of 2013 with a neck injury for that matter, Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee did enough to earn NFC Defensive Player of the Week honors for Week 2.

Lee, who has been patrolling the weak side full-time since his return, finished with a game-high 14 tackles against the Eagles, two for a loss, and an interception of Sam Bradford in the end zone that killed what had been the Eaglesโ€™ most (maybe only) promising drive of the day to that point in the third quarter.

Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said after the win that Lee smashed the record for production points, a metric coaches use to evaluate players.

โ€œI think he broke the (teamโ€™s) production points record by 20-plus points in the game,โ€ Garrett told the teamโ€™s official website. โ€œI donโ€™t want to get into the whole grading thing, but it was awfully good. Heโ€™s a great football player, he really is. Itโ€™s great to have him back.โ€
