Recovering From Illness, Carr Struggles Against ‘Skins

CB Brandon Carr missed much of last week with an illness

Cowboys cornerback Brandon Carr had a rough go of last week.

Carr was ill for much of the week, ill enough to force him to miss practice on Wednesday and Thursday. He recovered enough to play in Sunday’s come-from-behind victory over the Redskins, but it wasn’t exactly a banner day for the Cowboys’ $50 million man.

Pierre Garcon, the man Carr was charged with covering, went for 11 catches, 144 yards and a touchdown. Late in the game, the team took Carr off of Garcon and replaced him with Orlando Scandrick, who fared much better.

Just how much Carr was hindered by the illness is impossible to know, but it certainly didn’t help.

“I think I'm getting over it. I didn't feel as bad as I thought I would have felt,” Carr said, per ESPN Dallas. “The trainers did a good job of giving me medication and doing the proper things to get me ready to play. I took a little bit more time than usual as far as getting my rest so I could have energy for the game, but I think my voice is just gone from yelling and stuff. I had to get back at the fans for chirping.”
