Rangers Bring in Another Lefty Reliever

As of Tuesday morning, the Texas Rangers' bullpen roster from the left side looked like something you might find in Triple-A, as it consisted of Alex Claudio, Martire Garcia, a non-roster invitee, and Michael Kirkman, who is battling shoulder discomfort.

On Tuesday, the Rangers added another piece by claiming Edgar Olmos off waivers from Seattle, who claimed him off waivers from Miami shortly after the 2014 season ended.

Olmos is no savior, but in the bullpen you rarely see guys like that. Instead, he a flier and a guy who throws hard from a big frame, but is also known for having trouble with control, as The Dallas Morning News' Gerry Fraley wrote.

“He looks the part,” general manager Jon Daniels told reporters in Arizona. “We’ll get him into camp and see what our coaches can do with him.”

He has the physical tools at 6-4, 220 pounds, but only has five big-league apperances — all in 2013 with Miami.
