Mike Jenkins Arrives At Valley Ranch

Jenkins reported to the team's mandatory three-day mini-camp on Tuesday

Cowboys’ head coach Jason Garrett said last week that he expected Mike Jenkins to be present for this week’s mandatory three-day mini-camp at Valley Ranch, after the beleaguered cornerback sat out for all of OTAs. And sure enough, on Tuesday, Jenkins arrived.

Jenkins reportedly wants to be traded, following the team’s signing of cornerback Brandon Carr in free agency and their selection of Morris Claiborne in the first round of the draft, but officials in Dallas have made pretty clear that this isn’t going to happen and that Jenkins will continue to play a large role in the defense.

Even if the USF product wasn’t disgruntled, it’s not as though he could have done much at the OTAs or will be able to do much in mini-camp, at least from an on-field standpoint, as he’s recovering from shoulder surgery.

According to coaches, the bum shoulder serves as one of the main reasons Jenkins would be better off at Valley Ranch this offseason, under the watchful eye of team doctors and trainers. But it seems that the former Pro Bowl corner is content at this point to only attend what he’s required to attend--like this week’s mini-camp, for instance.
