Dallas Cowboys' linebacker Bradie James, who is no stranger to philanthropic efforts, was among the speakers at the 4th Annual Youth Crime Prevention Summit at Booker T. Washington High School in Dallas on Wednesday. The summit was organized by US Representative Bernice Johnson, in order to offer youth an alternative to crime.
Crime rates among juveniles balloon in the summer months, when schools are not in session, a fact which prompted the organization of the original edition of the summit.
Speakers on Wednesday included Omar Jahwar and Antong Lucky of Vision Regeneration, a renowned gang-intervention organization, Max Brewington of the Dallas County district attorney's office's juvenile division, and Dan Salter, of the Dallas division of the DEA.
"Every year I hold this assembly to remind young people like you the importance of your choices, because every choice has a consequence," Representative Johnson told the over 100 students in attendance, per the Dallas Morning News. "You are the future leaders of our country and it is in your interest to make the best of it. As a senior citizen you start looking to make sure everything will be in the hands of people who can handle it and I know you can."
James provided a bit of star power at the event, and left the students with a terse piece of advice.
"Just do the right thing all the time," James said.<!-- Image2 start //
