Fantasy Land: Studs and Duds, Week 1

A two-time champion in a hardcore keeper league, including some know-it-all media "experts", Adam Boedeker gives his fantasy expertise on a weekly basis.

Stud of the Week

Robert Griffin III, QB, WAS: So you're thinking, why on Earth would anyone want to start a rookie quarterback in his NFL debut? That's a good question. The history doesn't bode well for RG3's chances, but this matchup is just too enticing. The Saints are notoriously bad against the pass, and have historically been one of the kindest defensive units in the league in regards to allowing fantasy points to opposing QBs. Over their last nine games, including the postseason, opposing quarterbacks have averged 320 passing yards and two touchdowns per game. All of this doesn't even mention what RG3 can do with his legs when he gets into space. If you drafted Griffin, it likely wasn't as your No. 1 QB, but you might go ahead and stick him your lineup this week.

Honorable mention: RB DeAngelo Williams, CAR (at TB); WR Pierre Garcon, WAS (at NO); WR Torrey Smith, BAL (vs. CIN)

Dud of the Week

Larry Fitzgerald, WR, ARI: We get it, there's not much of a chance you're benching Fitzgerald in Week 1 after you likely drafted him as your No. 1 wideout, but this matchup against the Seattle Seahawks just isn't great and someone has to get Fitz the ball. That someone? John Skelton? Meh. The Seahawks will do everything in their power to eliminate Fitz from the game, and Skelton probably isn't good enough to adjust.

Honorable mention: QB Ben Roethlisberger, PIT (at DEN); QB Peyton Manning, DEN (vs. PIT); WR Dwayne Bowe (vs. ATL)
