Cowboys Offense Lives Up to Preseason Hype in Week 1

Take off from work the first weekend in February and book your flight to Miami for Super Bowl LIV. It's a quarterback driven league and Dak Prescott put up more yards -- 405 -- than any NFC signal caller in Week 1.

The quarterback for last season's NFC champion Los Angeles Rams, Jared Goff, threw for 186 yards and was intercepted once.

Atlanta's Matt Ryan? Managed 304 yards, but threw two interceptions.

And Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers totaled 203 passing yards, but just 10 points (10 points!) in a Thursday night win over Chicago.

New Orleans' Drew Brees? He plays Monday night.

Realistically, Dallas took advantage of a Giants defense that ranked 23rd in scoring defense and 24th in yards per game in 2018 on the way to Sunday's 35-17 season-opening win. So Prescott and company didn't exactly accumulate nearly 500 yards of total offense against the Bears or Jaguars defense, but Kellen Moore's debut as offensive coordinator was still impressive.

Prescott distributed the ball to seven different receivers, with Randall Cobb, Amari Cooper, Blake Jarwin and Jason Witten all catching touchdown passes.

Cobb could be an especially interesting addition, especially if Michael Gallup takes the step up he reportedly took in training camp.

Cobb played in just nine games for the Packers a year ago, but hauled in 60 or more catches four straight years prior to 2018. If that guy is the No. 3 receiver on a team that includes weapons Cooper, Gallup, Witten and Ezekiel Elliot, then this is the most loaded offense Prescott has played with.

Meanwhile, Moore kept Elliott's workload in check in Week 1 after Zeke held out for the entire preseason. The fourth-year pro got 14 touches, 13 carries and one reception, while Tony Pollard ran the ball 13 times. There will be tougher days at the office for Elliott in 2019.

In the short term, the Cowboys have a favorable schedule against Washington and Miami the next two weeks, before a showdown in New Orleans against Brees and the Saints. If the Cowboys win that shootout 56-49, go ahead and book those flights.
