Entering a "prove it" season, in the final year of his contract, Dak Prescott made a statement in the Cowboys opening game of the season.
"This offseason, this spring, this training camp, it's just continued to grow," Prescott said after Dallas' 35-17 win over the New York Giants. 'Studying film and playing these guys for a number of years just allowed me to come in and do exactly that."
Prescott showed tremendous growth by throwing for 405 yards -- the second highest total in a game in his career -- and tied a career high with four touchdown passes to four different receivers.
"Fun, fun. Those guys are great," Prescott said. "You get the ball in their hands quick, you see the result of it. A bunch of long plays and broken tackles. As long as we stay focused and keep getting better, this can be a good offense and a good team and I’m excited for the rest of it."
The Cowboys offense looked much different than in years past with new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore showing creativity and balance, as the offense finished with 494 total yards in Moore's first game calling plays, more yards than in every game but one a season ago.
"I thought he made that game exciting, made it a challenge for the Giants defense," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said. "The way he called the plays was a real plus for us."
"Well he got my name right, he used to call me Keelen," joked Moore. "That must mean I'm doing something right. We had a lot of success and we were able to get in a groove there in the second and third quarter. Hopefully we can build on it and hopefully we can get better."

"He's one of these geniuses and it's great for him to be calling the plays now," Prescott said. "We have a great relationship and it's been fun."
Back to Prescott and what has been a major talking point this offseason -- his contract status. Jones described the two sides coming to an agreement as "imminent," while Dak said he was not focused on a new contract at all, and instead, is locked in on the Cowboys' next opponent -- the Washington Redskins.
