In the Rangers' sixth game of the season, Nomar Mazara went from a newly called-up Triple-A player to the No. 2 spot in the Texas Rangers' batting order.
That's quite a jump for a kid that was 20 years old at the time and just recently turned 21, making him the youngest player in the majors this year.
All Mazara has done is hit over .300, show plate discipline and an approach well beyond his years, hit four bombs and become a mainstay in the Rangers' lineup in a primo spot.
But that spot could be getting more primo.
On Wednesday, Mazara hit third in the Rangers' lineup, as Jeff Banister moved the struggling Prince Fielder to fifth in the order and the hot-hitting Ian Desmond to second.
Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News said Banister made it pretty clear Mazara's days in the 3-hole might not be over.
Not only is his skill set built for that spot, it also allows the hot-hitting Desmond to hit second, and his ability to hit 20 homers and swipe 20 bases makes him a great candidate to hit second as long as he stays hot at the plate.

When Choo gets back, it'll be interesting where they stick him, but Mazara's ascension as a player has made the Rangers' lineup really deep, which can only be a good thing.
