Bryant's Agents Meet With Cowboys For First Time in Four Months

Since deadlines prompt motivation, the Cowboys and Dez Bryant just might agree on a long-term contract this summer after all.

Iโ€™m confident the star receiver will be in the lineup when the Cowboys open the season against the Giants Sept. 13. But will do it via a one-year contract or one with long-term security?

Bryant has expressed his frustration over the prospects of playing for the franchise-tag, $12.8 million, and last Friday his representatives were attempting to find a resolution.

According to ESPN, Bryantโ€™s agents were at Valley Ranch and had their first face-to-face meeting with the Cowboys since February.

If the two sides donโ€™t reach an agreement by July 15, Bryant will be forced to play the season under the terms of the franchise tag and wouldnโ€™t be allowed to continue negotiations again until after the season.

Obviously the Cowboys and Bryant would be better suited if a long-term deal is reached. The face-to-face talks are a step in the right direction.
