With the AL MVP voting set to be announced later today, you have to wonder who will get more votes nationally between Texas Rangers teammates Josh Hamilton and Adrian Beltre.
If the local media folks have anything to say about, Beltre should win that contest and likely finish in the top 3-4 of the MVP race.
Beltre was named Rangers Player of the Year on Wednesday by the local chapter of the Baseball Writers' Association of America after a stellar 2012 in which he fought through numerous injuries and never landed on the disabled list.
No matter how you feel about the numbers Hamilton and Beltre put up in 2012, there's no denying who was more of a gamer between the two, as Beltre fought through apparent scar tissue in his abdomen down the stretch while carrying the Rangers while Hamilton missed five crucial games because he drank too much caffeine and couldn't see straight.
Beltre finished the season with a .321 average, 36 home runs and 102 RBIs in 156 games this past season. He also continued to show he might be the game's best third baseman as he won his second straight gold glove .
