Mavs Seeking ‘Beefy' Maniacs

Only ‘beefy’ boys need apply

The search for next season’s third-most important on-court performers in the Dallas Mavericks organization commences Aug. 27.

The organization needs new blood in the Mavs ManiAACs corps — sorry, boys, but really, the team and the Mavs Dancers carry a little more figurative weight — and auditions run from 9 a.m.–3 p.m. that day at the Hilton Anatole Hotel.

Qualified applicants, according to a Mavs missive, “are Mavs fanatics, beefy, love to dance, and are at least 18 years of age.” Probably helps to live in the area, too.

This gig, by the way, is not for the shrinking-violet type. These big boys not only shake their considerable things during lulls in games, they also grace national and local TV programming — none of which falls under the pay-per-view category — and community events.

Snag an application and turn it in by Aug. 26 to the ManiAACs office — they have an office? hmm — along with a full-body photo or take it to the auditions.

Then rock the house. Almost literally.

Bruce Felps owns and operates East Dallas Times, an online community news outlet serving the White Rock Lake area. He’d probably need to double his weight and half his age to join.
