Businesses Get More Time on Obamacare Mandate

The U.S. government on Monday delayed another part of President Barack Obama's health reform law, saying medium-sized businesses would not face a tax penalty until 2016 for not providing employees with coverage. The administration last summer delayed until 2015 the employer mandate associated with Affordable Care Act. Obamacare aims to provide health coverage to millions of uninsured Americans by imposing tax penalties on individuals and businesses not seeking coverage. Most face a tax penalty in 2014, but final regulations released on Monday says that business with 50 to 99 employers that are not already offering coverage will not face a penalty until 2016.
