Benedict Cumberbatch is a dad!
The 38-year-old Sherlock and "The Imitation Game" star and wife Sophie Hunter, a 37-year-old actress and director, have welcomed their first child, a baby boy, Cumberbatch's rep told NBC's Owned Stations on Saturday.
"Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are delighted to announce the arrival of their beautiful son," Karon Maskill said in a statement. "We would kindly ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during these next few precious weeks."
The name of the British couple's son was not revealed.
Cumberbatch's rep had announced her pregnancy in January, two months after the pair got engaged. The two got married in a private wedding ceremony on Feb. 14, Valentine's Day, on the Isle of Wright in England in front of family and friends, including Cumberbatch's "Sherlock" and "The Hobbit" co-star Martin Freeman.
A week later, Hunter showcased her baby bump in red Lanvin gown at the 2015 Oscars, where Cumberbatch was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in "The Imitation Game."
